NOTICE OF RACE

 

RULES

1.1        The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US SAILING, the rules of PHRF, and the rules of participating classes (except as any of the foregoing are altered by the Sailing Instructions), by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race.

 

ELIGIBILITY & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Ratings

2.1        All boats in cruiser, spin and non-spin must have a valid First Coast Sailing Association PHRF rating. 

2.1(a)    HANDICAPS:  PHRF boats must have a valid FCSA (PHRF) handicap as shown on the handicap list and/or be able to provide a 2004 certificate.  A PHRF handicap may be obtained from NJYC Handicapper.     

 

Sail Numbers

2.2        Boats shall have their sail numbers on the mainsail, spinnakers, and each headsail having a LP measurement exceeding 130% of the base of the foretriangle.  A boat’s sail number is the number allotted to her by US Sailing, by her class, or her hull number. This alters Rule 77 and Appendix G of the RRS.

 

One Design Equipment

2.3        All one-design boats shall be equipped with a class required painter, or if not class required, then with a painter twice the length of the boat. 

 

Entry

2.4        Eligible boats are those who have officially entered by completing an entry form with the Navy Jacksonville Yacht Club in advance or during the registration period as set forth in the Notice of Race.

 

ADVANCED REGISTRATION

3.1        Participants are encouraged to register in advance by completing the registration form and sending it with the appropriate fee to:  NJYC R/C Sail George Alston,  P. O. Box 29    NAS    Jacksonville, FL 32212

 

ENTRY FEE

4          The entry fee is $30 for PHRF fleet.  A differential entry fee for US Sailing members, with proof of current membership, is $25.  The registration fee for the One Design fleet is $10.  Checks should be made payable to Navy Jacksonville Yacht Club.

 

CLASSES

5.1        PHRF: The fleet will be divided into PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Non-Spinnaker, and Cruiser classes.  These classes may be further divided if entries permit.

5.2        ONE-DESIGNS: Classes anticipated, but not limited to, are Flying Scots, Lasers, Flying Junior, JY-15, Catamarans.  Four boats will constitute a one-design class.

5.3        BOAT RENTAL:  Lasers, Flying Scots and Flying Juniors are available at NAS Jax Marina for qualified skippers.  Contact the Marina at 542-3260 for more information.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

7          Sailing instructions will be available at Registration.

 

COURSES

8          Courses will be signaled from the race committee signal boat.

 

SCORING

9.1        The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A, will apply. 

9.2        One Designs: Three races are scheduled, of which one race shall be completed to constitute a series.  If less than three races are completed, a boat’s total score will be the sum of her scores for all races.

9.3        PHRF:  Times will be calculated using time allowances calculated by applying PHRF handicaps as shown on the entry list and the distance assigned to the race to the elapsed time. One race is scheduled.

 

RACE PRIZES

10         First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in classes of  seven or more entered boats.

            First and second place prizes will be awarded in classes of five or six entered boats.

            First place prize will be awarded in classes of four or less boats entered.

               

DOCKING & BASE ACCESS

Base Access

11.1      Due to unique NAS Security requirements, you must have Photo ID; i.e. drivers license, car registration in your name, and proof of insurance.  Park in the lot by the Main Gate, walk in to the pass office.  A NJYC representative will be in the pass office from 1030 am to 1200 pm to sponser participants on to the base.

 

Dockage

 11.2     Available on the southern face of the “F” dock, unless otherwise directed.
