 Notice of Race

1              RULES

1.1           The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of US Sailing, the participating classes (except as any of the foregoing are altered by the Sailing Instructions) by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race.

1.2           Class rules requiring class membership will not apply. 

1.3           Display of sail numbers shall be in accordance with class rules.  This alters Appendix G of the RRS.

1.4           All boats shall be equipped with a class required painter, or if not class required, then with a painter at least twice the length of the boat.

 2                ELIGIBILITY

2.1           Eligible boats are those who have officially entered by completing an entry form with the Navy Jacksonville Yacht Club in advance or during the registration period as set forth in the Notice of Race.

3                ADVANCED REGISTRATION

3.1                Participants are encouraged to register in advance by completing the attached registration form and sending it with the appropriate fee to:

3.3           Due to unique NAS Security requirements, participants needing access through the gate must be on the List of Participants and will need to be signed in by a representative of NJYC.  The NJYC representative will be at the main gate between 0730 and 0830 to sign competitors in. You must have Photo ID, i.e. drivers license, car registration in YOUR NAME, and proof of insurance.  Contact race organizer for further details.

  4                ENTRY

4.1           The entry fee is $10 prior to 07 September 2002, and $12 on the day of the race.

 5                CLASSES

5.1           It is anticipated that classes will be Flying Scot’s and Lasers. Additional classes may be accommodated provided the minimum requirement of 5.2 is met.

5.2           A minimum of four registered boats is necessary to constitute a class.

 7                SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

7.1           The Sailing Instructions will be available on race day at NJYC prior to the Competitors Meeting.

8              RACES

8.1           Three races are scheduled of which one must be completed to constitute a regatta.

8.2           Class flags will be described at the Competitors Meeting.

8.3           Starting order of classes will be announced at the Competitors Meeting.

8.4           Courses will be described in the Sailing Instructions and displayed from the Race Committee Boat.

 9                SCORING

9.1           The regatta will be scored as provided in Appendix A of the racing rules using the Low Point System, except no scores will be excluded.  This alters rule A2.

 10           PRIZES

10.1         First place prizes will be awarded in each class.  Certificates will be awarded to second and third place finishers.
