 Notice of Race

 1.       RULES

The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the US Sailing, the rules of participating classes; NEFRSA (SCPR) (except as any of the foregoing are altered by these Sailing Instructions); and by these Sailing Instructions. 

  1. ALTERATIONS OF CLASS RULES

The rules of all classes with yachts participating as a class are altered so that membership in the class except PHRF is not required. 

  1. ALTERATIONS OF RACING RULES

Part 5 and Appendix G are modified for this Regatta. Mediation procedures will be in effect. 

  1. ADVERTISING

The Regatta is designated Category B in accordance with Rule 79 and Appendix G4 excluding paragraphs 4.2(b), (c) and (d). 

  1. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

5.1 Eligible yachts are those who have officially entered by completing an entry form with the Navy Jacksonville Yacht Club in advance or during the registration period as set forth in the Notice of Race. Appendix R (Definitions for Competitor Eligibility) of the RRS will be in effect for this Regatta. Group 1 and Group 2 competitors are eligible to compete. Display of sail numbers shall be in accordance with class rules. 

5.2 It is anticipated that yachts will be divided into the following racing classes:

Flying Scott, Laser, JY15.  Additional classes may be accommodated as well, provided the minimum requirement of 5.3 is met. 

5.3 A minimum of four (4) registered yachts is necessary to constitute a class.

5.5 Three (3) one design races are scheduled. 

5.6 Participating Classes and their starting order shall be announced at the competitors meeting, and posted.

Saturday 02 March 2002; One Design windward leeward/triangle course 

Registration: 0900-1045

      Sailors meeting: 1100

      Warning signal for first class/one design lines: 1200

Yachts are encouraged to register in advance by completing the attached registration form and sending it with appropriate fees to:

Due to unique Base Security requirements, you must have ID, ie; Drivers License, Car registration in YOUR NAME, proof of insurance.  Participants must be on the list of participants, and will need to be signed in by a representative of NJYC. The NJYC representative will be at the main gate at 0930 and 1015 to sign competitors in. This is the price we must pay for security! Note: competitors arriving by water will have an easier time of getting on base. Contact race organizer for further details.  

8.   Fees: Entry fee shall be $10.00 prior to 01 MARCH 2002, and $12.00 day of the race.  

  1. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available on race day at the Navy Jacksonville Yacht Club.  

  1. REGATTA SITE: Regatta will be held at Navy Jacksonville Yacht Club.
  1. RACING AREA:  The racing area will be in the St John’s River as depicted on NOAA Chart 11492 between the Buckman Bridge to the south and the Fuller Warren Bridge to the north.
  1. COURSES: Courses will be shown in the Sailing Instructions.
  1. SCORING:  The low point scoring system, Appendix B2 of the racing rules, will apply.
  1.  PRIZES: First place prizes will be awarded to each class, certificates will be awarded for second and third place finishers.
